Seven Months

Ahem. Do I have your attention? Yep, it always works in this house too... Coughing is my new way to get someone to look at me. Once they do, I am very pleased with myself and offer a big smile in return. And now that I have your attention.... I'M SEVEN MONTHS OLD!! (Please, don't mind the drool.)

I've had a lot of big changes in my life this month. One of the first was being able to eat solid (or a very mushy form of solid) food! I started out with rice cereal, which Mom already told you about. I was a little distrusting at first that Mom and Dad knew what they were doing... I mean, a bottle is a pretty efficient way to eat, so I wasn't real sure what they were trying to pull on me with that spoon thing. But I began to realize quickly (with the help of Mom's terrible plane imitations) that eating could be fun. And now I'm a pro. My first food after cereal was avacado:

I've also had a lot of sweet potatoes (I really love them.) and pears! I'm supposed to be trying a green next week, but I don't think they've decided what yet! I'm ready for the day when I get to choose what I eat.

Another big change in my life is my ability to sit up on my own. This has made life a lot easier on all of us. For one, I can sit by myself in a high chair when we go out to eat! Mom and Dad are very excited about this... especially since lately I've earned the nickname "Sir Grabs-a-lot," as I enjoy grabbing and pulling things like plates and tablecloths.

Back to how this has made life better for everyone.... sitting up has made a WORLD of difference in bath time for me. All I wanted to do was see what the heck was going on during bath time and now I can! This has made me a much happier bather. Here is a shot of me at the lake house enjoying getting clean:

A lot of people are asking if I'm crawling yet. I would ask you to define "crawl." Must you get somewhere by going in a forward motion with hands and tucked under feet? Then, no, I'm not crawling. But if you were more liberal in your definition to include pivoting sideways and getting to point B in a zig-zag way... then yes! I am crawling! I am also stuck in reverse and can do a backwards crawl... Mom and Dad said not to hurry, though. They are perfectly fine knowing I am stuck in one place.

Since the weather has been warming up, we have all been spending a lot more time outdoors this month. I really like being outside... especially just hanging out in our front yard.

On one of the warmest days this month, Mom and Dad took me to an air show where I got to see lots of big planes do tricks. I'll be honest, I really hated it. Those planes were loud and every time one flew close to the ground, I did this:

I liked them much better on the ground.

Another new development in my life is my incredible sleeping patterns! I have not been consistent in my whole life, so Mom is not betting on anything, but for the past couple weeks I have been going to bed at 8 and waking up around 6:30 or 7! Mom and Dad said they feel like normal people again. I do what I can!

Well, I guess those are all the highlights of the past month. One of my new favorite things to play with is a calculator, so I've actually got to go now because Mom and Dad have put me in charge of doing the taxes for the fam... and I've got a lot to do!
Catch ya later, alligators!
