Andrew as a Daddy

Parenting a two year old has been one of the hardest things Andrew and I have ever done together.

But this man is just the best Daddy.

He laughs when I am about to cry

He pushes us towards adventure when I want to stay at home

He shepherds when I want to be passive

He embraces what I want to ignore

He moves forward when I want to sit still

He serves when I just want to be served

He is simply the best and the most incredibly perfect dad for Wilson. W's wild and adventurous heart is a carbon copy of his dad's and I am so glad Andrew is with me to shepherd it. We love you, Andrew! Thank you for living out so clearly the love our Heavenly Father has for us.

Happy Father's Day, Andrew!

Sometimes, when I'm getting ready in the morning, I will hear these two giggling so hard down the hall. I will run to the living room not wanting to miss out on anything... and there I will find them: laying on the floor laughing at absolutely nothing but their own laughter.

I love this about these two. They are best friends. Even now, when such a great gap of age sits between them.

Wilson gets to experience and learn so many new things because his dad has such an adventurous heart. I'm so glad for this, because if it were left to me I would probably put him in an inflatable bubble and shield him from the world. I see the fire of curiosity and discovery growing in Wilson and I'm glad (and maybe a little afraid) to know he is going to be just like his daddy.

I am so thankful for this man. Andrew was made to be a dad... but even more accurately, he was made to be Wilson's dad!

Happy Father's Day, Andrew. We love you!

Happy Daddy Day!

We are very excited to celebrate Andrew's first Father's Day! One of the first qualities I saw in Andrew was how great he was with children from working with him at camp. I knew that he was going to be such a great dad and I was right!

From the minute W came into this world they were smitten with each other.

W knows who is his best playmate.

And Andrew knows who is his little buddy. (And who, consequently, enjoys football games more than the other resident of this household.)

I know that Andrew will be/is great at giving guidance,  practicing authority, teaching wisdom... but what I think is also so special is that these two are going to be the best of friends.

We love you Dad-o!

We also love and appreciate our dads and grandads! Much love to Gramps (my dad), Grandan (Andrew's dad), Grandaddy in Hopkinsville, Grandpa Dale, Grandaddy in Montgomery, and Grandaddy Al! What a precious legacy we have and we are so thankful for all that you have blessed us with.
